The Gore-Tex Shakedry material debuted in 2017 as an ultralight wind-and-rain barrier where the laminate layer was the shell, and you could literally shake the water off in a second. Offered to other brands over the years through Gore Fabrics, the wonder material is now being discontinued.
Our PR rep says the decision is due to ongoing supply chain issues, which, honestly, sucks. The good news is that Gore Wear purchased a lot of the material, stockpiling enough to keep making one of our favorite cycling jackets under their own brand.
Eventually, they’ll run out, but word is they have decent inventory at the moment. That said, if you want an ultralight, highly packable, and completely waterproof shell for road, gravel, or mountain biking, you may wanna get one sooner than later.
